Pro našeho stálého klienta, překládáme manuál do švédštiny – z anglického jazyka. Po mutacích, anglická, česká, slovenská, italská, polská, pokračuje severská mutace. Manuály pro klienta překládáme od roku 2013 a od té doby probíhají neustálé aktualizace několikrát do roka (vždy cca 50 stran k mutaci) + nyní vyvstal nový požadavek na švédskou verzi.

Překlady SW do švédštiny

A situation NOT included in instructions: In some tabs the row for Swedish column (H) already contains some text. In some cases it is Swedish, so my understanding is it should be left intact. BUT, other times there is Czech text and it is different to what is in the Czech column (G). Should I overwrite it with the swedish translation?

Also, on many rows the en-US cell is empty but the Swedish cell has the word „Text“. Is it OK to make empty as it would simplify counting?

Excel documents with many columns for languages like this need some preparation, both for proper counting and smooth translation, I need to first copy all English text into Swedish column so less work if I don’t need to keep the „Text“.

Some rows have capital abbreviations like „BL“, FD VM“ etc. all same in English and Czech column, but in Swedish column some are empty and others are different like on tab 230_Hand_PM_SW others have „BL“ but swedish is empty, others have „FD VM“ but swedish has „VJ“, others „SW VM but swedish „SW“. It’s ambiguous what to do?

Odpovědi:

Pokud je již ve sloupci H něco přeloženo do švédštiny, tak ponechat (je-li to správně). Jestliže je někde vyplněno pouze „Text“, tak
je možno smazat, pro lepší počítání. Jinak překládat vždy to, co je ve sloupci „en-US“. V podstatě je možné nejprve sloupec H zcela vymazat (mimo již přeložené švédské texty). Jsou-li někde v textu použity zkratky jako „BL, FD VM, ….“ jedná se o klientovo ustálené zkratky pro jednotlivé části stroje. Ty se nepřekládají a jsou pro všechny jazyky stejné. Jsou-li zkratky rozdílné, řídit se vždy textem ve sloupci s angličtinou.

Překladatel švédštiny:

On some rows the English and Czech is the same (untranslated) but on others it has been translated into Czech and these are not fixed abbreviations for the machine parts. It is ordinary english words like „Length“, „Done“ or „Description“ etc. left untranslated, while e.g. „Location“ has been translated into „Porice“ and „Delete Location[2]?“ translated into „Smazat lokaci[2]?“, which indeed is an inconsistency but maybe this is OK in Czech, this I cannot judge. Question is if I follow same pattern as Czech or translate all that isn’t an Abbreviation or clearly for the machine?

Český klient:

Jestliže jsou některé výrazy v angličtině a češtině stejné, jako např. „Done, Actual WOP, Qty, …“ tak instrukce zní: nechat je stejné i pro švédštinu. Nepřekládat.

Překladatel švédštiny:

Finally done with counting, quite a lot of work to prepare the document first for translation and best possible counting. I will go over the document one more time to assure I have screened out all parts not to translate, but as it stands now I get it to 30 NS

Check tab „Store_position_2“, row 7: I think there may be an error in the cz-CZ part. Same with tab „Store_position_1“, but row 9, and „Store_position_3“ row 9It is non-translated text (in English) but doesn’t match the English en-US column. on tab Pop_Central_Lubrication: in the en-US column and row 14-15 there is Czech text, I suggest for English „Increase“ and „Last entry“ (if it is about input of values)
