I started to count these files, which involves that I have to convert them first, and this led me to see there is a major problem here. So decided to consult with you before continuing as I have only worked 30 min. so far. Maybe you should take help from Fanta to fully understand what I am saying.

 

Many of these files are scans of construction drawings, with some text. These files cannot really be converted to word and back to pdf as all you got (depending on conversion method) is either the full image pasted into a word document, or a „scrambled egg“ with some of the text converted by means of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and some not because it’s too small and blurred. So none of these resulting files ar really usable for translation. The only way to handle this is to translate „Fanta Style“ i.e. reading the pdf and type translation into a text file or other document, and then edit the image file by replacing the Czech text with the new translated one.

 

This looks to me like a lot of extra work and will surely surpas my earlier estimates, plus I could probably only do this if the target language is a language I’m familiar with like English, Swedish, maybe I could handle Slovak with assistance from Kamila. But before even agreeing to this job I need to test and see that it really works properly with editing the image. In short, this is a PDF-nightmare scenario and unless this is very important to the client, to have all translated I would suggest to only translate the files that are more of text documents, which can be properly converted, except for some drawings may get scrambled but there I can restore the original drawing in the final product.
